H80.0101 Lecture 4 Credits
Instructor(s): Brown
An intensive study of Shakespeare’s life and ten of his plays. The texts are studied in the order that they were written. The course reveals Shakespeare’s development as a playwright: his use of dramatic techniques, the influence of his times on his work, the demands of popular art, and the life of a professional dramatist in the Elizabethan age. A midterm report, term paper, and final exam are required. One semester required of all undergraduates; open to all students. Formerly H80.1100.
