Biography

Writer. Plays include: The Death and Life of Jesse James, Gogol: A Mystery Play, Kid Twist, Limbo Tales (Obie Awards), Dark Ride, Candide (Guthrie Theatre), My Uncle Sam, Five of Us (Obie Award), and American Notes, produced at New York Shakespeare Festival, Soho Repertory, Westbeth Theatre Center, Mark Taper Forum, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Guthrie. Film: Blame It on the Night, American Notes. Television includes scripts for Family, Quincy, The Incredible Hulk, and the Visions series. He wrote the original screenplay Nickel Dreams. Author of The Secret Life of Billie's Uncle Myron and New Jerusalem, novels. Libretto for Madrigal Opera, music by Philip Glass. Winner of numerous awards and prizes including American Guest Artist, Royal Court Theatre in London.
