The Department:
The Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing provides an academically and creatively demanding curriculum. Only applicants with demonstrated creative excellence and a record of academic achievement will be considered for admission. Personal recommendations from English or Drama teachers will be well regarded.
Students considering the undergraduate Dramatic Writing program may take a short, guided tour of the department. Tours are offered selected Friday afternoons, by appointment. To schedule a tour, please contact Patricia Ione Lloyd, pil1@nyu.edu. It is recommended that students and parents first take the NYU general tour, and attend the undergraduate information session, before the departmental tour begins.
Students accepted into the Dramatic Writing Department are enrolled in the Division of Playwriting and the Division of Film and TV Writing. Students study in all divisions, concentrating in at least one medium as their studies advance.
Admissions:
In addition to submitting a completed NYU application, applicants must also submit a Dramatic Writing Portfolio Submission Packet. Requirements for the Dramatic Writing Portfolio can be found at Dramatic Writing Portfolio Requirements.
