David is a director/choreographer/conceiver having worked on productions both on and off-Broadway and Regionally. This reading of Getting Home marks the second extended collaboration with playwright, anton dudley. David directed the world-premier (one-act version) of Getting Home at the Homogenius Festival 2004 (Manhattan Theatre Source). David conceived and directed the award winning (Bronfman Award) experimental movement piece, A Song of Solomon which played off-Broadway at the Classic Stage Company (originally conceived at the Williamstown Theatre Festival) and was supported by the generous vision of the NYU Bronfman Center and CSC. Some of David's directing and assistant directing theatre credits include – Bway: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s By Jeeves. Off-Bway: World-Premiere of Steve Martin’s The Underpants (CSC), Charlayne Woodard's In Real Life (MTC), One Mo' Time (WTF), Ghosts (CSC), Mountain Language (ATA), 2 summers at The Eugene O'Neill Musical Theatre Festival with shows such as the Tony Award winning Avenue Q, Duncan Sheik's The Nightingale and Lil' Budda (National Alliance for Musical Theatre Festival) and the ’00 season at the Public Theatre/ New York Shakespeare Festival. David is also a member director of NYU’s First Look Theatre Company. In addition, David has founded and chairs the Stage Director and Choreographer's Foundation Artist Action Committee, which serves as a junior board for the SDCF. In addition to the theatre and dance worlds, David is an abstract painter/ visual installation artist, having had 20 of his oil canvas’ and earth-based ritual art displayed at the famous Art Student League. He has been commissioned this summer to develop earth-based art/theatre installations on the property ofEastonMountain, a gay spiritual institution. David serves on the Board of the not for profit Foundation, the Gay Spirit Culture Project and in his spare time is a body-centered Jewish educator.
