Anton Dudley holds an MFA in dramatic writing from NYU’s TischSchool of the Arts and a BA in drama fromVassarCollege. Anton is a recipient of the 2003 Manhattan Theater Club Playwriting Fellowship and Commission, the 2003 Cherry Lane Mentor’s Project Fellowship (Mentor: Ed Bullins), a 2002 Dramatists’ Guild Fellowship (Mentor: Warren Leight), a 2002 New York Theatre Workshop Residency at Dartmouth College, and both NYU’s 2000 Goldberg Award for Best Play (Mentor: Tony Kushner) and 2001 John Golden Prize in Playwriting. His plays, which include Slag Heap, The Lake’s End, This Ball of Mud & Fire, Honor and the River, edWARd2, Davy & Stu, Spamlet, Bleeding the Leech, and Soul Perversions, have been presented in various forms by Manhattan Theatre Club (“6@6” series), New York Theatre Workshop (where he is a member of the Usual Suspects), Lincoln Center Theatre at HERE, New York Stage & Film, Adirondack Theatre Festival, Arielle Tepper’s inaugural season of SPF (with actress Jan Maxwell), Signature Theatre in Virginia, the Cherry Lane Theatre, SohoRep, the Director’s Company, the Kennedy Center (Prelude Festival), Red Bull Theatre Company, Long Island Shakespeare Festival, Cherry Red Productions (where he serves as literary manager) and FringeNYC. Anton is an Assistant Professor of Playwriting in the English Department atAdelphiUniversity. Formerly the Director of the Dramatists Guild of America’s Fellowship Program, Anton was an inaugural member of the Lark Theatre Playwright’s Workshop under the direction of Arthur Kopit. His work has been published in The Dramatist, PLAY A Journal of Plays (Vol. II), The Waverly Review, both volumes of Gary Garrison’s Monologues for Men by Men (Heinemann Press), and The Back Stage Book of New American Short Plays, edited by Craig Lucas.
